Community and Events Fundraiser (Maternity Cover)

Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University (HEY CU) has an established and successful community and events fundraising programme. We are looking for a new member of the HEY CU team to cover the maternity leave of our Community and Events Fundraiser.
We are looking for a vibrant, resilient, creative and confident individual with fantastic communication skills and a real love of a front-facing role, working with people from all backgrounds. The Community and Events Fundraiser must be able to work independently and use their own initiative but must also be open to working collaboratively in a small team.
Reporting to the CEO, the Community and Events Fundraiser will be responsible for generating income from the local community, including implementing an outstanding stewardship programme for our donors, inspiring others to donate and raising general awareness of our charity both digitally and in person. You will manage and deliver a calendar of community events including mass participation and third party events, and will work with the Partnership Manager on the planning of the annual ball.
This role involves regularly going out into the local community to build links and raise funds so you must be confident in making direct approaches, often in person. This will occasionally require out of hours work including weekends and evenings. Please do not apply if you are unable to work these flexible hours.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Plan, manage and develop community and mass participation fundraising events
Grow the individual supporter base of the charity by identifying, researching and implementing new ways to approach potential supporters
Implement and facilitate stewardship of community donors
Have regular interactions with the local community to grow the supporter network
Research, identify and implement new community fundraising income streams
Make links with schools, organisations and community groups in order to develop support
Give talks to community/supporter groups where it is deemed of benefit to do so
Mange volunteer fundraising committee
Recruit and manage volunteers for fundraising events
Work within the guidelines of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising best practice
Ensure all fundraising activities collect and manage donor data in accordance with relevant legislation
Deliver work projects against agreed targets
Raise the profile and awareness of the charity through marketing and communication channels
Manage social media content relating to community and events fundraising
About you:
You will be an enthusiastic and confident person with excellent communication skills and experience of developing strong relationships whilst working towards the achievement of targets.
The ideal candidate will also have:
Experience of community fundraising or ability to demonstrate transferable skills e.g. sales and marketing
A proven track record in achieving financial and non-financial targets
Knowledge of the principles of good donor management and/or customer care
Excellent negotiating and influencing skills
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
Experience of developing relationships across a wide range of external customers including individuals and organisations.
Experience of managing events
Experience of working with volunteers
Understanding and experience of budgeting
Knowledge of Legal and financial aspects fundraising e.g. lotteries, licencing
