HOTA’s Charity ‘Dunker’ Day is on its way and we need some brave people to take it on in the name of making a difference.
When: Friday 8th November, 1.30pm – 4.30pm
Where: Malmo Road, Hull
What: The ‘Dunker’ is the nickname for the Helicopter Underwater Escape Training Simulator (HUET). It is used to train people in the Off[1]shore Industry and is capable of a 180 degree revolution in a pool containing 250,000 litres of water. As you can imagine trying to escape from a submerged helicopter shell is not usually part of most people’s daily routine, but don’t despair we will take care of you. Participants will take part in a safety briefing before they are lowered into the water inside the helicopter shell, they will then have to escape through a window as it fills up. The second part of the challenge will see those who take part have to free themselves from the shell as it submerges and rotates, resembling a real-life emergency.
Registration fee: £10 to be donated to HOTA’s Charity of the Year
Fundraising: We ask that you aim to raise at least £100 per person as part of this challenge in aid of HEY Children's University.
